Comparison
Linetrack vs. Asana

Quick answer
Asana offers native task dependencies, a timeline view, and - on higher tiers - even cross-project workload views. What's missing for industrial projects in mechanical and plant engineering is scheduling that's genuinely resource-aware: Asana's own documentation notes that its critical path calculation doesn't account for resource availability - plus native ERP integration. Linetrack covers both.
Why Linetrack for connected industrial projects?
Resource-aware scheduling, not just a date plan
Asana's critical path highlights the tasks that determine timing, but by its own documentation doesn't factor in resource availability. Linetrack plans dates and capacity in one step.
Portfolio capacity without tier walls or scaling limits
Cross-project workload visibility in Asana is reserved for higher tiers and, per user reports, gets noticeably slower past a few hundred projects. Linetrack shows capacity across all projects natively.
ERP integration without extra tooling
Asana has no native connector for SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics - only the detour through third-party tools like Workato or Celigo. Linetrack connects project data directly with your ERP.

Honestly speaking
When is Asana still the right choice?
As a general-purpose work management platform, Asana covers a wide range of use cases - from marketing campaigns to product roadmaps to cross-functional teams - and brings a large integration ecosystem with connections to Salesforce, Slack, Tableau, and Power BI. Cross-project workload views exist too.
Accessing that workload view, though, requires the Advanced or Enterprise tier, and per user reports the view gets noticeably slower past a few hundred projects. A capacity planning approach that works across all projects from day one, without a tier wall or scaling limit, looks different.
The critical path in Asana's Timeline view is also, by its own documentation, purely date- and duration-based - staff availability isn't factored in. For scheduling that calculates dependencies and resource utilization together, that's not enough once several parallel projects share the same people or machines.
And wherever project data needs to flow directly with the ERP, Asana offers no native connection to SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics - only the detour through third-party tools like Workato or Celigo.
